Who Can? You Can? Toucan

From you poolside chair or swaying hammock you can observe the busy birds going about their daily business, building nests, feeding their young or taking a refreshing bath. We have noisy parrots, grackles and chachalacas. perky orioles, shouting kiskadees, territorial tanagers all are regular visitors. Some of them you can set your clock by, especially at breakfast time.

Yet this his Keel billed toucan is a relative new comer to the peninsula, which is very unlike their usual forest habitat. He must have got lost or was a released captive. This has caused great excitement. He has been seen at 6 am in the coco plum tree near the canal and again at 3.30 each afternoon. He is developing a routine.
